NYC fashion lines now offer dresses with built-in shapewear, eliminating the need for Spanx. Shani Grosz's dresses, described as "Botox for your body," use slimming technology and clever design to create flattering silhouettes. Project Gravitas offers luxe Italian fabrics and custom shapewear, preventing embarrassing moments. Both lines provide stylish, comfortable options for holiday parties.
A dress collection introduced at Houston’s Dillards Post Oak, features built-in shapewear for a slimmer appearance. Designer Shani Grosz, a Parsons School of Design graduate and former Donna Karan employee, created these dresses to blend fashion, great fit, and technology at affordable luxury prices. The dresses, made of stretch fabrics and under-slips, aim to answer the common fitting room question, "do I look fat?" with a confident "no." The collection includes sizes 4-16, with plans to add size 2 and plus sizes. Grosz's attention to detail and her efforts to get customers to try on the dresses have contributed to their popularity, with the dresses being sold in 44 countries.
Described as "Botox to the body" and "the little black dress with a big secret inside," these dresses integrate built-in shapewear, distinguishing them from basic compression garments offered by brands like Spanx. Shani Grosz, a Parsons graduate with experience at Donna Karan and Nicole Miller, developed the line in response to common concerns about appearance. The dresses use advanced technology and innovative tailoring to create flattering optical illusions, solving the discomfort typically associated with traditional shapewear.
